It's election time and the "Obama is the boogey man rhetoric" from Bortz and some other guy that comes on talk radio (maybe Maxwell?) is nauseating.
There's no room for a balanced, moderate, America loving Conservative.
I plan to vote for Obama with these factors in mind:
1) It was IMPOSSIBLE for our country to come out in "tip-top shape" after four years regardless of who was elected for President. For inheriting leadership of a country that was leading the fight in two wars and on the brink of the worst national financial catastrophe since the Great Depression, Obama and Congress has obviously done a few things right or else things wold be much, much worse.
BHO has done nothing to encourage job creation. He has used the power of government to reward his friends and supporters. How much money will we have to lose by giving it to companies that go bankrupt before you see this? He has truly engaged in Chicago-style politics at a national level.
2) The American auto industry has GOD, President Obama, and Congressional Democrats to thank for their thriving existence today as most conservatives were willing to let these industries fail. I am glad they didn't fold.
I don't remember Ford taking any government money. And I believe they are still in business. So, by US auto industry you must mean GM. The payoff to GM was a reward to the auto unions for being staunch Democrat supporters. GM is still on a non-sustainable long term path, due to their union liabilities and issues. The patronage system has had a great revival under BHO.
3) With the political instability that has happened in the world in the last four years, I am glad that Obama has demonstrated wise and measured responses. I am disappointed on all parties' silence on what's going on in Syria, but I am not sure of the financial wisdom of getting America involved there and I am sure that politically it would be a disaster for Obama's base. As for Romney, I don't think Romney has any fight in him. He's trying to appeal to as many Democrats and Indies as possible, that means he is going to do all that he can to appear like Obama-- which won't be hard for him at all.
BHO has basically followed the GWB template for foreign intervention and affairs. I have grown weary of our continued intervention around the world. And I believe that it has become counter productive. I also believe that BHO strongly encouraged and supported the "Arab Spring", which I believe will become a gateway for Islamic fundamentalist governments in the Middle East.
As for your comments on Romney, these sound like you are trying to justify your reasons to not support him.
4) He delayed Keystone, but if there aren't any MAJOR environmental consequences to the project, then I am sure that he will move forward with it. Absent any major environmental consequences, he would be foolish to not move forward with Keystone.
BHO has consistently refused to help the oil/gas/coal industry in this nation. We have closed numerous electical plants because they cannot meet new government standards, for which BHO is directly responsible. His energy secretary has publically stated that he wants higher gas prices. He will not move forward on Keystone, unless he believes public opinion is at a tipping point.
5) I like Obama, and I Romney is the one candidate that I refuse to support-- regardless of his running mate.

JD - I have a great deal of respect for you and we have always had civil discussions. I have many friends in the African-American community and many of them will admit that one of the reasons they are voting for or did vote for BHO is the color of his skin. Now, most of them will also say that they usually vote Democrat, anyway, so that it really does not matter!
Now, here is what I believe about BHO. I think that he is a committed socialist. I believe he is entrenched in the Chicago style politics of punish your enemies and reward your friends. I believe he is one of the best liars that we have had in politics, lately. I also believe that he is over his head.
Now, with all of that I do believe that his "likeability" will get him back into office. He seems to be a good husband and father, he likes hoops and he can connect with people. But, I believe future generations will look back at his era and ask "what were they thinking"?
