Looking for info on Kenneth Reeves

One thing I remember is I read in a part of one book of his God said only pray while in San Francisco (book on friends coffee table, can't remember name) - no witnessing. That was unique.

The big reason I ask is my hunger for God and seeing the sovereign move of God that's coming (and in places already happening). That and a desire for an experience like Moses on the mountain in Exodus 33 & 34. Bro. Barnes and Stoneking appear to have similar experiences, and it seems Bro. Reeves did as well. I'd like to be that close to Him.

A very good desire to have. And remember we need not be be a famous minister to have a great move of the Spirit in our lives. The Lord has astounded me many times with heavenly encounters.

I could care less about being famous (I like a quiet home life), I just want to walk, see and hear what and where they have and build on it - that depth in Him.

We attended his church in Granite City 1974 to 1977.

He had a unique ministry and was often misunderstood. The first service we attended had me wondering what was going on. He wasn't always easy to follow.

He had spiritual gifts not always approved of or accepted by mainstream UPC, and the church was just across the river from UPC Hqtrs.

In 1976 he began a period of ministry involving spiritual warfare.

He had a deliverance ministry that was powerful and effective. As I recall he probably prayed for everyone in the congregation. people waited in line in the side aisle and went on the platform for prayer. ( this took place over a few months ). Congregation size was about 300.


When he laid hands on you he became physically weak and 2 or 3 elders were always beside him to literally hold him up or he would collapse.

As word of this spread he used this gift in other churches in the states and overseas.

He felt that many who were sick or depressed needed deliverance.......but not in the sense of demon possession.

He sounds like an interesting man. I remember hearing about how this gifts were discouraged in the 60's and 70's, yet he and Bro Stoneking, Bro Barnes and Bro G.A. Mangun were often frowned at because they worked and flowed in the Spirit. It sounds like he tapped into something many don't or don't want to.

Commonsense, was it him that God sent to San Francisco (or some city) and said don't do any outreach, just bring down the strongholds by prayer? I remember reading that somewhere. If that was him what book was that in?

Was there fellowship between Kenneth Reeves and Ross Smith in Granite City?
They were both OP ministers in Granite City. I don't know how much their ministry times overlapped.

Reeves often saw angels in the Spirit that no one else saw. I remember one story where he saw three angels walking around on the inside of his church. They were going someplace else and just stopped by his church. If I remember right his daughter was his asst'n Pastor for a while.

The first time he saw an angel he was reading worldly books in his bedroom, an angel came in the window and just looked at him in a disapproving way.

Be careful what you seek after. It costs a great deal to be close.
