Actually, BOOM, that rule was changed at a General Conference a few years ago. It is still suggested, but it is left up to the District Board as to whether or not it is required. We have a licensed preacher in Kansas who is attending an independent church. (His pastor, by the way, is thinking of joining the UPC.)

Just a point of clarification from a soon-to-be-former District Superintendent.

RE: formation of SoCal dist - it's not really a shocker and it was not exclusively a conservative vs liberals issue. The idea was first proposed over 30 years ago.

It was all handled amazingly well, although there are probably some on here who would have preferred more drama.

A Abbey will make an awesome DS, IMO.
