Memorial Service For My Sister

We Had the Memorial Service for my Sister Brenda on Saturday & we had the perfect weather for it, sunny & warm.
We opened with a short video of, "On the Wings of a Dove" one of my sister's favourite songs that she could play on both the Piano & Organ as she was musical & could play by ears & by notes.
My older sister Val requested it be played.

Here is the link to that version of song that was played:

I then opened by greeting everyone & opening in a short prayer. My cousin then read the Eulogy & one of the things he mentioned was that my sister was named Brenda Lee & yes, she was named after you know who, & when she was 3 or 4, the original Brenda Lee was in Vancouver & was on a local talk show & my mom called into speak to the singer. My sister thought it was neat that someone had the same name as she did & what a coincidence it was.

We then sang, "What a friend we have in Jesus" & then I spoke on some Remembrances I had of my sister.
We then sang, "Near the Cross" & we then played a video tribute of pics of my sister titled, "Precious Memories" with the song Precious Memories by Bill Gaither played as part of the Video.
Here is the link here to the version of the song, (audio only with the video tribute):

We then sang, "In the Garden"
My Pastor spoke on the thought, "The influence of one" & traced it back to the influence of the most important one ever---"Jesus!
I then spoke again offering thanks for everyone coming out & for all the help that everyone did for our family & the memorial service.
I then broke down & told my oldest sister, who has always felt that it was hard being the oldest & having the responsibility on her shoulders.
She basically was Brenda's voice for the last 20 years while she was sick.
I said, "God is good, but life can be unfair at times & although she was given a difficult hand it life, she managed to play it very well, & that the family was grateful for looking after my sister's affairs.
My former Pastor who played the Piano for the service then made some remarks. My sister when she was still able to get out, came to Church in the 90's so he knew my sister pretty good being her Pastor too.
We dismissed with this version of an MP3 song being played called, "Whispering Hope" another favourite of my sister that she could play as well.

Ron, I am so sorry for your loss. I know this has to be a very emotional time for you. It sounds like you and the family would have made her proud with the memorial service you gave her.

What you said about life not being fair is so true. At times we just have to hold on to the knowledge that we will not understand everything until we are in heaven. As I have mentioned before my wife used to sing a song in church that said "heaven holds all the answers that time will never tell".

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.

"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.

"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."

Thanks CC1, I hope you did notice that in taking the pictures someone used the wrong lens & it made me look a little "larger" than I should have!

Hi Margie,

Yes, I am blessed in more ways than one. My oldest is part of the Worship team as a praise singer in Church & Alanna, my other daughter is singing as part of the youth & Ryan likes to play the Drums as well as all three are active as part of the youth group!
My Ankle? WCB has been fighting me for 4 1/2 years, but they at least are starting to treat it.
I had a large needle inserted into my Ankle joint that was guided by X-Ray's & they injected cortisone into the joint.
I have at least 3 bone fragments in the joint & lots of scar tissue.
I go back to the Surgeon in two weeks & I am going to see if I get a second injection or go straight to orthopedic surgery.
As for the two years plus in benefits they owe me, they are making me fight for it.
