Re: How would you handle it- disrespectful loggers
Well...the owner is responsible for "his guys" pay, not you. It's not like you could stop the rain. Those funds are supposed to come out of his pocket, not yours.

Right. But this is common with contract work. No pool of cash sitting around.

That may be true, but he is obligated to fulfill his contract with T2W because it is her timber that is giving his men their job and his job.

Yup. Be sure you get pictures.
He'd sure be buying me a fence
and paying for herd retrieval, too-
-but skipping your paycheck is already
a big bad sign.

Re: How would you handle it- disrespectful loggers
So here is the update:
I realized we might be in semi-serious lose all our money and our logs kind of trouble... Since we were just denied for our Ag tax exemption (too many trees) and this money is how we will pay the taxes to keep the farm until we can reapply in two years I can NOT lose it.
So when momma ain't happy... Don became suddenly motivated to have a serious talk with the logger. He says he will have all our money here tomorrow for every load that has gone out so far... And I've taken off work to be sure it happens just that way because if not they are going to be locked out.
Turns out that timber theft is a felony in Texas... I dug up an old friend who now works at one of the local mills as a log buyer (what ever that is)... she is looking at my property via satellite today and will give me some idea of what should have come out of here. So I'll have something to see if he lines up with an impartial estimate.
In any case I think he was seeing us as push overs... and now since Don got on board with getting us paid... maybe not so much. As soon as that money is in hand tomorrow we are going to discuss how he plans to take care of the fence repair.
Thanks for the moral support. You guys are the best.

Re: How would you handle it- disrespectful loggers
Good deal!
Now are they going to pay for the damage they caused to your fence? Or are you going to be kind and forgiving on that one?
