Since the fall of the previous government there has been a rash of kidnappings of Western tourists by Bedouin's looking to trade them for the release of jailed relatives.
So far in every instance the kidnapped persons have been freed unharmed. I pray that is the case this time also.
The Mubarak government made protecting the tourist trade a big priority and came down hard on anything like this and that is why it did not happen with frequency until now.
