Houston Homeowner, Pulls Gun on a Utility Worker I

Thoughts?

Thelma Taormina, Houston Homeowner, Pulls Gun on a Utility Worker Installing Smart Meters

A Houston homeowner had been trying to keep her electric company from installing a "smart meter" at her house. So when a company worker showed up to put the new, digital meter into place, she pulled out the big guns -- literally.

Thelma Taormina said that the utility worker tried to force her out of the way so that he could install the smart meter on her property, so she pulled out a handgun, Houston's KHOU 11 News reported.

"He just kept pushing me away," Taormina, 55, told the station. "He saw it," she said of the weapon, "and went back the other way."

Electric companies are supposed to knock on the door to ask permission to remove the old meter.

Many people do not want smart meters installed on their homes because they pulsate more radiation than analog meters. Electric companies are forcing these health hazard meters on people without their permission.

I do not think that I would go as far as brandishing a firearm though to keep it out.

The whole "Radiation" thing from smart meters is a total straw man -it is like saying "The reason I need my guns to protect myself from the coming alien hoards from planet X!". We don't need a false argument with these because their REAL issue is a dramatic loss of privacy.

We don't know if he knocked on the door. She DID have a No Trespass sign which he blatantly ignored.

That is true too Randy, but so is the radiation pulsating from the meters. That is how it is transmitted to the site to view how you use your electricity.

Radiation issues aside, this thug meter maid had no business coming onto her property with-out permission let alone push her around. I say Annie Oakley here had every right to escort this dude off her property with gun in hand.

By all indications (and these stories never give all the details) she didn't point it at him, not that it would have mattered either way.

I started reading the story thinking she was a bit over reactive but firmly took her side by the end. When she told him to leave, he needed to leave. Case closed.

We actually have a smart meter ourselves because they installed it when our solar panels were put up. In this case they use it to get more in depth stats on our own use and production.

We have a smart meter and it was installed without permission, without a knock on the door and before I even knew about smart meters.
