Actually Scott there is some current research that suggests anti-bacterial soaps are responsible for the recent increase in childhood illness. Kids need to be exposed to low levels of less harmful bacteria to build immunity to more virulent strains and for their bodies to 'learn' to quickly mount an immune response. Keeping them too clean and germ free is not always a good idea...

Explains in part why farm kids get sick so much less... they are always getting dirty, adults too!

Sometimes when I have extra time to make them. This has been a really heavy canning year because we were droughted last year and our garden burned up... so I am replacing a lot of our food... May get to soaps soon.

Have something you'd like to try?

Well, when you get around to making soaps, why don't you send (or post) a list of what you have and prices? What kind of soap do you normally make?

I can make anything pretty much but some of my favs are:

Almond
Butter Pecan
Calendula Chamomile
Clove & cinnamon (smells like pumpkin pie)
Coffee & cream
Eucalyptus
Honey & lemon
Mint
Orange Spice
Lavender
Lavender Orange
Lavender Rosemary
Lavender Spearmint
Lemon Citrus
Lemongrass
Oatmeal Milk & Honey
Patchouli
Pomander Spice
Shaving soap (great lather)
Sandalwood
Green Tea
Tea Tree

All are available in coconut, shea or olive oil moisturizing or goats milk clean formula, shampoo bars, sugar cubes, stuffed loofas, or liquid.

I also make homemade dish soap, laundry soap and some all natural cleaning products which I've posted the recipes for here in the past.

I have done gift baskets, etc. But do not do anything with a Christmas theme, sorry.

I would be interested in the scents that I left in the quote. The base probably doesn't matter, but I do prefer bar over liquid.
