Point being I don't think using kings of OT as a model for if a minister today should remain in position after adultery is wise. Both kings sinned one rejected and one remained so which do we go by?

David not building the temple had NOTHING to do with his adultery. It was because he had shed too much blood.

More inclined to think we should go by Paul's qualifications of a bishop and teachings about putting away a unrepentant brother.

It's a terrible comparison. David was king. Pastors are not kings. They are not even supposed to act like kings

Depends on who you ask. I was in a service where an assistant referred to the pastor and his wife as the king and queen of the church.
