Re: Pedophilia in Kansas Church
Excerpts from: http://www.wibw.com/home/headlines/Prosecutors-More-Victims-Come-Forward-In-Church-Molestation-Probe-168788596.html
"The hearing was continued because according to the state, the church probe continues to develop and Young could face more charges in connection with nine other victims that have come forward. That would bring the total to 13 victims."
"Jordan Young is the son of former Faith Tabernacle pastor Edwin Young, who reportedly recently and abruptly resigned. Sources close to Faith Tabernacle say Edwin Young took a significant amount of money from the church when he resigned before his son was arrested and now, his whereabouts are unknown. When asked about Edwin Young and if he is part of the police investigation at the church, Junction City Police Chief Tim Brown said he had no comment. Junction City police have consulted with the FBI, Brown said."

Re: Pedophilia in Kansas Church
My heart has been breaking over the last several hours as I have pursued all of the information that I can find on this story. I knew this family and church for many years when we lived in the Kansas District. After Bro. Westberg passed away, we were thrilled to see it taken by these people. However, ones spiritual past is meaningless unless it is continued to be lived in the present. To compromise morally, one must first compromise themselves spiritually in their thoughts, actions, and attitudes.
I do not know all of the circumstances surrounding this sad case, and I am not sure how much I truly wish to discover. My heart is broken, and I pray for the spiritual restoration of this family. My deeper wish is to see this church recover and move on into greater victory in spite of this tragedy. Great good was done there once, and I believe that they can reach even greater heights.
I am grateful to see that the church has placed Bro. Dudley in as pastor. I pray for him as his road will not be easy as this remains a volatile situation that could have residual impacts for decades to come. There are many who could have this brush used against them. Already spiritualabuse.com has given the implication that the WPF and other independent brethren are filled with the same type of practices.
Let us pray for the best, prepare for the worst, and continue to ride the wild waves that are caused by the tempests of life.

Seems like I remember a lot of gloating going on in the UPC when the Catholics had similar issues, even outright jokes about priests were common.
This is a hurtful shame for the membership and for Christianity at large... we should all be prayerful for those who have been and will be hurt by this.

It is clear they should have had a rule where sleeves went to the wrist and not just below the elbow. If they just tighten up a bit I am sure all will be fine.
(On a serious note Jay I know exactly what you mean. I share your sorrow because anytime Christians fail it greatly hurts the credibility of all Christians in a world that is already unbelieving and skeptical about whether God and a walk with God is real)

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.
"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.
"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."

Naw. They just needed to preach that the tie was to be tightened until the face was blue. This would have solved the whole problem.

Thank you very much for your kind words. I will always have fond memories in my heart of this family, but the are now forever tarnished by what has occurred. I pray that they may find a place of repentance and restoration to the body.

Hope he can help the folks, but not hopeful, listening to his audio on this thread.

Oh he is definitely not a change from the point of view they had in Edwin Young and before him Westburg. Ultra con all the way. He may just have to tighten things up even more to make sure something like this doesn't happen again. Not exactly sure what you could be stricter on though after googling and finding a former members list of the long laundry list of "standards" and do's and don'ts that church has.
