I understand completely. And agree. However, my point here was to help some move beyond just the "repentance" stage and to help them realize there is something more for them... the gift of the Holy Ghost. Thanks, brother, for your input.
I did consider the verse you mentioned but, within the context of my message, it seemed to be saying that unless they have the Spirit of Christ (i.e., Holy Ghost), they have nothing at all. I wanted them to see that what they have (repentance) is of great value, but there is more to enhance that experience. Maybe I didn't convey that thought well enough.
