Lightbulb Re: The Marriage Contract

some problems not yet brought out are; as follows. In orthodox jewish weddings you have to get permission to divorace. even thou mans laws say you can they will prevent the divorace even if the man is running around.
The Catholic church many times refuses to marry non catholics to Catholics. if a divorace occurs you can have the marriage done away with if the spouse is proven to be mentally unstable even if it is a lie.

Yes, I am looking for your response.

I'm not talking about a "religious marriage". I'm talking about "privatized marriage".

Re: The Marriage Contract

Interesting website...

http://www.ingodseyesonly.com/Home_Page.html

Here's what they believe:

What We Believe...

•Marriage is a covenant not a contract. Frequently, civil marriage complicates inheritance, pensions, social security, medical care, property ownership and many other areas of a union.
•In God's Eyes Only Marriage is a covenant without a marriage license.
•Marriage is a commitment between a man and a woman before God.
•Originally, God brought the idea of monogamy and marriage. Later, men came with the idea of imposing laws around marriage.
•Marriage is a celebration; in fact, Jesus' first miracle was at a wedding where he turned the water into wine.
•Marriage is honorable and blessed of God.
•Marriage declares a partnership between a man and a woman. It celebrates their complementing strengths for each other.
•Marriage is the very sacrament of divine love.
•Marriage is God's answer to loneliness.
•The Bible encourages a man and a woman to commit to each other in the eyes of God.
Interesting, a ministry dedicated to the idea of a non-legal "Spiritual Marriage". Thoughts???

Re: The Marriage Contract

Interesting political article:
Is there a Libertarian position on same-sex marriage?

Aquila, I think you need your own country.

Re: The Marriage Contract

I've just come to believe that intimate relationships should be private and none of the government's business.
