I may have read between the lines too much but I have had similar thoughts when comparing certain worship styles found in apostolic church's to certain behaviors found in religions -most often practiced in the Caribbean. Certainly there is a lot of the same psychology involved.

As far as flat out comparing some tongues to voodoo, I just can't get myself to say that as I feel it is treading on rather dangerous territory to do so. She is young though.

Reading those articles inspired me to write the "Demystifying Gifts of the Spirit" thread. It's a subject I have a lot of interest in. I believe in these things but I have also seen a lot that disturbs me and doesn't seem right. And a lot of the people I deal with that seem to almost want to force that kind of atmosphere at church seem to lack spiritual maturity in many other areas. It's like they want to get that emotional high and they are addicted to it. Or they feel, like they haven't been with God without it. I think it marginalizes Jesus and church becomes a free for all rather than something that honors Him and keeps Him at the center if why we worship.
