We are part of a church plant and right now the church is not doing services on Sunday night. The wife is down stairs and I am up stairs in my office doing some study time in my Word. Enjoying the fellowship with the Logos.

Sounds like you're twice dead and plucked up by the roots.

Re: Cutting Back On 'Church' Services

Speaking of church I am witnessing a phenomena play out that I have heard about but never witnessed before.

I remember many years ago hearing the pastor of a large UPC church talk about church growth. He said that some of it could not be explained. In his particular instance the most they had ever run at their old building was 500 or 600 (I don't remember exactly because this was several decades ago). However from the very first Sunday they moved into their new larger building they never ran under 800!

I am curious to see if that phenomena happens when we move into our new building next month. Right now over the last 90 days we have had absolute confirmation from God that we did the right thing in stepping out to make this move.

I say that because we have seen our current facility which seats 200 maxed out to the point where it would be a disaster if we were not about to move into a larger building.

Just now tonight, in the middle of our 3rd Sunday Service, someone just posted on FB that we have 212 people there in a building that seats 200. This is around the 3rd Sunday night in a row that they have run out of extra chairs to even put out

I attend the smallest service, the early 9 am one, and even we have seen our service grow from around 60-80 people to more than 100. I am guessing that when I see the totals for today we will have hit the 500+ mark for the first time. I know that we are not after "numbers" but each of those numbers represents a soul that is being preached the Gospel and that is exciting.

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.

"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.

"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."

Thank God. It is supposed to be a day of rest.
