We are part of a new church plant with a strong Assemblies of God connection. We are part of the backbone and we are getting some really good hands on training and involvement that many don't get at more established churches.

Excellent Sounds like a great training ground. We have spent a lot of our time in church plants. I get bored in a "big church".

Re: Bombshell- Considering going back to the UPC
This evening I was at the national homeschool Varsity and JV basketball 3 point and slam dunk competition, and a guy speaks for 30 minutes to the youth..., mentions he doesnt always buy the ever popular "sinners prayer" thing much, cause many times its not a sincere life changing, from the heart born again experience, but needs to be just that etc etc...brought tears to my eyes all he was saying to the youth, standing for Christ and righteousness in this generation...
He was a pastor, played pro football for the Jaguars, and had 8 children...(not that any of that matters...)
Anyhow, it was great stuff, and I was recognizing just that, then he closed in prayer by spending time praying to Jesus, then the Holyspirit, and then the Father....
This is an example I was meaning when I said for myself(and my children in mind), I'd have issues probly worse at another church outside of OP. The GREATEST commandment, The Lord our God is one (and love our neighbor..) for me, is a value I feel somewhat "threatened", if I were to "go along" with that, by attending a church the spends time separating prayer to the 3. (Not that all absolutley do outside of OP )

I don't think I've ever heard anyone do that besides Catholics.

Funny thing, when he was talking he mentioned the only wise God our Saviour Jesus, or something similiar, and I told my son sorta jokingly, that guys oneness ...then, when he closed in prayer to each, we both cracked up mainly because of my comment.

I am the opposite. I love big churches. This new church we have been a part of the last 1 1/2 years is a new experience for me. We have seen the church grow from about 150 people to over 500 now. So if we continue this trajectory maybe I will have the big church I love soon!

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.
"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.
"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."

That's terrific growth. I hope so too. Then those people who get bored like me can go and plant a new church I do miss the atmosphere of the bigger church where we started. I wish more of the good musicians would invest in church plants.
