Who's saying he doesn't? Straw man argument.

Although again, I have to see or hear about a boy or girl with Downs getting slapped on the forehead with a mighty "Jeeeezzz US!" and see them healed. Should be EASY if all they are is demon possessed.

Oh, if it's me, I'll own that. But still a straw man argument, because Jesus' ability to heal has nothing to do with what I may say, but according to the faith of the believer, especially the believer claiming "the church doesn't get it", or the rest of what's being claimed here:

<<.The modern church does not believe any of this stuff.
That's why the world is in such a mess.
Science supposently knows all better.
If people actually believed the New Testament miracles
and lived accordingly we would see a total different world.
Churches would be like hospitals, where people go for healing
and to be set free.>>

Since Dord is presumably one who "actually believes the NT" and understands the power of the healing Saviour and the demonic realm more than the "modern church" then it's a very, very testable proposition. Go to a psych ward, and deliver merely 50% of them--or whatever percentage "want" deliverance from their mental illnesses via miraculous prayer of faith. Report back.

Re: Mental Illness or Demonic Influence?

The fact is that people DO get healed
Do all get healed? No Some will never get healed.
I am well aware of that.
Are you saying we should stop praying for the sick
because some don't get healed?.

Do surgeons stop operating because some die
on the operating table?

Praise God for the churches where the
Gifts of the Spirit are still being practiced!
Healing is still for today.
If you don't believe it, that your problem.

My Bible still tells me to lay hands on and pray for the sick.

It's common knowledge that if somebody would send you such a report back you would not believe it anyways.

Amazing the amount of unbelief
on a "Apostolic" discussion form.

It shows me what a sad shape the church is in these days.

Re: Mental Illness or Demonic Influence?

God does indeed heal.

However, the major prophet Daniel, who believed mightily in God and was favored by God was also very learned in science. It has it's place in this world. Nobody ever said that science replaced God. The study of science is how man tries to understand how God spoke this world into existence and clothed the fields with exquisite beauty.

Science, in it's proper context in no way replaces faith in God. It just is a tool to use to help understand why chemicals and other substances do what they do in the human body or else wise.

Children in whom was no blemish, but well favoured, and skilful in all wisdom, and cunning in knowledge, and understanding science, and such as had ability in them to stand in the king's palace, and whom they might teach the learning and the tongue of the Chaldeans.
(Daniel 1:4)

Re: Mental Illness or Demonic Influence?

Who could deny that God made a creature so exquisite such as this?

Who wouldn't want to study this beautiful creature?

When this bird falls from the branch, God knows it.

Not true. If you cleaned out 50% of a Psych Ward due to your world view and prayer for demonic-deliverance to heal all kinds of mental illnesses, I certainly would believe a report, provided written by someone having no vested interest in evangelistic exaggeration. Hospital staff would do nicely, assuming they were free independent observers merely reporting the situation. I might even go there myself to take photos of empty halls, and proclaim the results everywhere I could, and attempt to get financing for you to do it again and again, all over the country. I really would. No sarcasm.

And I would post here that

John 4:48

----------------------------------------------------------

I think it is so interesting that despite all the signs
and miracles Jesus performs
it really didn't mean a thing to most church goers.

That's because they are really not apostolic.
