Also, let's say another church decides that my kid needs to be baptized in their way or they won't make it to heaven. You can bet your bippy I would be upset if they did so without my permission. I may be even tempted to take legal action.

All in all, I believe every situation will be judged by God. He is a big God and can keep minors until they are of age to take that step.

I definetly do not advocate going against parents. That teaches rebellion against authority.

Just my Honest Opinion !
You are right! I totally agree with you~

just so I make myself clear on what I posted :-) I am speaking of IF my child would have done it at the age of 16 or older without my permission, I would not have been upset.....just a bit ticked yes~ Anything younger....... I would have raised the roof.....it should always be up to the parents...no matter!

But if baptism is a heaven and hell issue, the parents are in essence sending their child to hell for forbidding him from being baptized.

Not sure that I can defend it theologicaly but I am of the opinion that "other people" can't send me to hell... that is just too empowering for said "other people".

Re: Parents Consent To Baptize Children

Sadly, there will be many parents on judgment day with the blood of their children on their hnds, and not just from the forbidding of baptism. It is part of the reason that I said that eventually the teenager may have to answer the call no matter the cost. That cost may well include the comforts of home and family. As I said before, this must be worked out on a case by case basis. The question eventually becomes what one will do with truth when it is heard. Fathers have killed children for believing this doctine without their consent or approval.

But, if a Pastor or preacher encourages a child to be disobedient in this instance, what else might he coerce a child to do against parental consent? What if the child decides that they don't have to obey their parents anymore, after all the preacher baptized him/her against their wishes.

Re: Parents Consent To Baptize Children

As a Pastor, I have to say, I wouldn't baptize a minor without consent. Its the same as any other situation that would require consent. I know that God's laws are higher than human law but we are told in scripture to submit to authority, and authority says that one must reach the age of majority for consensual purposes. And not being a 3 stepper, I don't believe that baptism is a heaven/hell issue, so, In due time the baptism will happen.

Re: Parents Consent To Baptize Children

2 things:

1. You tell the child they must have parental consent.
2. You pray and fast together with the child for their parents' hearts to be changed.

Instead of teaching them rebellion and disobedience, teach them to have faith in God's ability to change things and to go about things the right way.

This good!

It is the kids first chance to love somebody into the Kingdom.
