He doesn't mince words when he quotes Isaiah in calling Jesus the Everlasting Father.

Many, if not most Trinitarian preachers and even singers I've heard, leave that phrase out because it is problematic.

By the way Sir, you really shouldn't "Amen" calling Bishop Jakes a lizard. You wouldn't call him that in your own post because you have too much wisdom for that kind of nonsense.

If you're going to label someone, at least get it right. It's chameleon, not lizard. Huge difference.

Sorry to me it is a lizard that changes colors to match it's surrounding. Just like Fakes does.

So...to the Trinitarians he becomes trinitarian and to Oneness he becomes oneness?

Sounds familiar

Apostolic is defined on AFF as:

  1. There is One God. This one God reveals Himself distinctly as Father, Son and Holy Ghost.
  2. The Son is God himself in a human form or "God manifested in the flesh" (1Tim 3:16)
  3. Every sinner must repent of their sins.
  4. That Jesus name baptism is the only biblical mode of water baptism.
  5. That the Holy Ghost is for today and is received by faith with the initial evidence of speaking in tongues.
  6. The saint will go on to strive to live a holy life, pleasing to God.

Jay,
I don't think he came to his theological stance overnight and neither do I think it was a flippant matter to him.

His theological stance isn't a symptom of personal compromise.

Okay, I'll explain my comment, knowing at the outset you won't like it.

I was a fan of Bishop Jakes from the very beginning, when not many folks knew who he was.

He made occasional visits to TBN, and I always made it a point of watching...at the time, didn't know he was Apostolic. I only knew I liked his preaching.

So I went to his website and read his doctrinal stand and history. I can't remember if he was still PAW or had just left, but he still believed and preached the Apostolic Pentecostal doctrinal line.

Slowly I began to read and hear statements by Bishop Jakes that led me to believe he was shifting in his stand.

Today, I have no idea what he believes, and frankly wonder if he does.

Oprah has visited his church and showed the video of it on her program.

Time magazine described him as the next Billy Graham.

He was asked to speak at Whitney's funeral.

Fine. But where has all of this taken him?

God is the final judge. I only know what I have witnessed from the beginning to now, and from my house, it looks like he sold out for a moment in history.

JMHO...and remember, you asked...

I think TD Jakes has taken a position that one must believe in the deity of Christ. How one wishes to interpret it (Oneness or Trinitarianism) isn't an issue he's willing to fight about.
