Esther, are you close to Houston? it is a huge help when there is a library close by that has lots of material to help with your research. I don't get to go to Fort Wayne near as often as I would like. But I always find new things when I do get to go there.

I've gone to the library at a local LDS church but honestly found it hard to navigate my way thru, even tho they have some very helpful people right there standing by

I've been extremely fortunate because MOST of my lines have been basically stable. My Stuckey people came to the USA from Alsace Loraine, France and came directly to Fulton County, Ohio, where they stayed put for many generations. In fact, the Western edge of our county consists of a huge Mennonite population even today and a large number of them are related to me thru the Stuckeys . My Harper line settled in Washington DC almost from the very beginning and stayed there until my great grandparents moved to Detroit. So that line was easy. Now my mother's paternal side - that is a whole other story!! There is a name change in there (from Chavalier to Hosler!!!). There is another country involved as recently as the late 1800's (Canada, but still getting those records has proven to be difficult). And then we have the Whitcomb's. Lucky for me, someone did major research on that line a long, long time ago. Her book is generally accepted as gospel. And so far, I have not found any errors. So I think she did a great job. She goes back to the 1300's. Hooray for Charlotte!! I appreciate her!
