One fascinating subject is the subject of the "Guardian Angel". The idea is that every person on earth has at least one angel assigned to them. This notion is extrapolated from the following texts:
Psalm 91:11 ESV
For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways.
Matthew 18:10 ESV
“See that you do not despise one of these little ones. For I tell you that in heaven their angels always see the face of my Father who is in heaven.
Hebrews 1:14 ESV
Are they not all ministering spirits sent out to serve for the sake of those who are to inherit salvation?
Luke 16:22 ESV
The poor man died and was carried by the angels to Abraham's side. The rich man also died and was buried,
Guardian Angels are spiritual protectors and guides. Their mission is to ensure that God's will is accomplished in your life by assisting you with protection and guidance. They do not actively involve themselves all the time. They only involve themselves in events or circumstances that could derail God's plan for you. For example, a sleepy driver is driving down the interstate. God has revealed His will to his Guardian Angel that this driver is to do something very special for the Kingdom of God in the near future. The angel sees the driver nod off into sleep and begin veering towards on coming traffic. The angel immediately shouts the driver's name and at that the driver awakens in a jolt. The driver swiftly turns the wheel away from oncoming traffic and hits an incline. Suddenly the car is airborn. The angel then flies under the car and safetly guides it down into a grassy field. The driver doesn't have so much as a scratch on him. However, two weeks later the same man's father falls off a ladder and dies. The angels were commanded to stand aside to allow this to happen. The man must experience this for the proper development of his soul. The experience brings him to write a book about grief. Untold numbers of lives are touched and assisted with overcoming their own griefs.
So, if the angels allow it to happen to you... it is for your good and assist your spiritual development.
A Guardian Angel can also offer advice or guidance concerning situations that leave us bewildered by speaking direction into our spirits. Sometimes they guide us in our study of God's Word. Sometimes they can speak through us and into the lives of others. Nothing a Guaurdian Angel says will ever contradict God's own Word. In fact, we are commanded to try the spirits. Any spiritual insight we gain, no matter where we think it came from, should be compared to the Bible.
Our Guardian Angels also assist us in our transition from life into death. In fact, we are carried to Heaven by our angels after death. Your Guardian Angel will also assist you with better understanding your new reality in Heaven and even minister to your questions about your life, your death, and your family.
Some Christians profess to have seen or spoken to their Guardian Angel(s). For some, this aspect of spirituality brings great joy and comfort. Not every Christian delves too deeply into the angelic realities. Sometimes this is for fear, sometimes it is for disinterest, and other times it's for a reason that makes the angels rejoice... a focus on Jesus. One need not be "angel crazy" to experience angelic realities in their lives. One must simply focus on Jesus and learn that love is what this is all about.
