Seems to me they would charge tax for their area since that is where the sale took place.
It will cause a loss of sales because I would not want to pay shipping in addition to taxes plus waiting for delivery, hoping it is not damaged in shipping.

My take is simple. I enjoy NOT paying taxes when I do shop online occasionally. HOwever, that doesn't make it fair. If I go into a stor I have to pay taxes. Why shouldn't I pay them for shopping on line at a store. Further, it eliminates another of the unfair advantages online stores have over traditional storefronts. Physical stores have to pay all sorts of fees and taxes just to exist AND they have to charge sales taxes. Meanwhile, some slob in his pajamas can operate a "virtual store" online and not pay any of the normal fees and such the traditional store owner does. So he is already ahead. Then add that he has to charge no taxes and it is yet another advantage over the traditional store owner.
This may be a tax grab by the Fed, I don't doubnt it, but it also serves to help even the field a little so the traditional store owner isn't playing at an even greater handicap versus the online retailers.

The largest realization of this bill is that EVERY state can perform a very costly audit on any on-line business in this country giving them the capability to put them out of business.

Do you have to pay shipping when you walk into a store? No. Meanwhile the "slob in his pajamas" has to deal with the cost of shipping, which can be higher than sales taxes. Not only the cost of shipping, but websites, virtual shopping carts, transaction fees, etc add to their cost. No, it's still not as expensive as a brick and mortar store, but the reason for doing online retail is to cut overhead, keep expenses down while making a profit. This alleged advantage the online store owner has over the traditional brick and mortar owner is a myth.
Look, this is America. The land where opportunity is available for anyone who wants to work. This "it's not fair" nonsense is ridiculous. The owners of physical stores have the same rights and opportunity as the "slob in his pajamas."

"it's not fair" is not ridiculous. It's not a land of opportunity if the playing field is slanted and unfairly weighted to give an advantage to one group over another.

BTW the bill does not affect small businesses that do less than 1mill in sales a year

I'm all for this crippling a few more online stores and pushing people into Walmart. I love it. Walmart employs millions of Americans. The better Walmart does, the better it is for thier employees.
I should note, my wife works for Walmart so Walmart pays my mortgage. "Big Evil Walmart" has paid her well, given her raises every year and offered her management positions. Viva la Walmart!
