I would take her to an experienced (I mean, someone that's done hair for 10 years or more) hairdresser that will be able to cut and style it in the best way possible while keeping as much hair as possible. This way, it will grow out nicely and look nice too.

Please give this dear woman a break and let her get her hair cut properly so it can grow back out....it needs to be cut by a professional so it can be shaped and it will be easier to let it grow if it isn't 100 different lengths...all her hair needs to be cut not just the ball....

I know a dear lady who would NEVER cut her hair...she had the same problem her hair was very long...she had stroke and her hair even with the help of the ladies became terrible tangled...it is now getting long again...God healed her completely she was not expected to live....so I guess He didn't think her hair being cut was an issue...

cut it. but then she'd be guilty of cutting it. Let it fall out. Won't look good, but she won't violate her convictions. She could cover the spot with a veil.

...Almost...

Here is where I need the opinions of the Esteemed Spiritual Scholars among us. I have a fairly young Mother, about 35 or so, who recently was placed in the hospital for a dire medical situation. It was a hospital stay that required that she lay there for a few weeks immobile. Now, the interesting part. Due to the amount of time she lay there, in spite of the fact that they tried to keep it 'up', her beautiful long hair became hideously tangled. Upon her release her family (and eventually most every female Saint in our Church) tried to untangle it.

Now, almost 4 months later (as well as numerous 'anointing with oil' sessions, a few all night prayer meetings and 3 extended fasts by this precious Saint) what we have is a rock hard ball of hair about the size of a softball strategically covered up by other parts of her hair.

Now this precious Saint is pleading with me for an answer. She has the same conviction about cutting her hair as I do. Yet, we also know that she has to do something now or else she's going to end up bald (the 'ball of hair' is now pulling the good hair out).

Do we consider this a medical situation such as a cancer that affects the hair? Do we take the 'no cutting' stance and hope that it eventually just falls out on it's own? Do we play a 'Solomon' and 'divide it' down the middle with a sword and see what happens... perchance we can salvage some of it? Obviously we take it seriously and consider the hair issue as much more than a matter of 'preference'.

I need to make a decision. She needs to have an answer. I'm interested to see what the illustrious Spiritual Scholars among us have to say...

... Your turn."

My first question is to just generate some fun.

When you say any of it are you implying that she does not cut the hair on her legs and underarms as well, or are we just talking about her head??

Now, really, If all options have been exhausted, I think the best issue is to talk to her and see where her convictions and feelings will allow her to go. It does not matter one bit if you give her "permission" if she does it, and then regrets it in her heart. Over all, this woman must be sold in her own heart as to what she should do, and what she feels the word allows. Otherwise, she will begin to condemn herself, and her faith will be affected.

I personally think that if we looked at the spirit of this scripture, we would not condemn a woman that has her hair cut for any legitimate reason (medical, surgical, etc.).

Loopholes! If you believe it is a sin to cut it.. then she can not cut it for any reason!

Good grief, please quick let the poor lady out of her misery, advise her to go get a nice hair cut.

Steadfast...for his mom...she must be going through such pain in her heart and spirit...and just don't think God is going to condemn her having her hair cut so she can let it grow out and be healthy again...

Like I said before the lady I know God healed her in-spite of her having to cut off her hair...I just can not see a God that would condemn her for removing her hair for these desperate reasons....

why would I think your were judging me...not at all I am happy to clarify
