Exactly, it was the media and outsiders who wanted GZ jailed, and they knew nothing of the case/evidence. It was the investigators, who knew the details, spoke to all of the witnesses, and spoke to GZ who originally decided that it was self defense. That says a lot.
By the way, how many break-ins were there in GZ's neighborhood in the several months prior to this event? How many of GZ's calls to non-emergency and 911 resulted in arrests? Who had injuries? What have the majority of credible witnesses said? Why didn't TM go home if he saw someone following him? That is the first thing I'd do... get inside my home. Common sense prevails in this case combined with overwhelming evidence and most importantly, the law(s).
And yes, there was indeed enough marijuana in TM's system to effect him. He was also a regular user which worsens the effects; paranoia, irritability, fear and anxiety. Not to mention the watermelon fruit drink and skittles which were, clearly, for the purpose of the codeine drink he used regularly. Plus the many fights he was a part of previously - indicating his tendencies to be aggressive... just look at the types of "likes" he had on FB. This speaks to his character, habits, and tendencies.
