Nobody is using the fact that there were breakins to justify killing. TM was ON TOP of GZ and was swinging away at him. The Kid then reached for GZ's weapon.
If he felt threatened why not call the cops? Why not just run home? Why run TO the man and attack?

He was suspicious because he was out and it was raining, was cutting between houses and was walking leisurely in the rain.
