Re: Bombshell- Considering going back to the UPC
Jason I don't think in the long run the UPC will work for you. Your views concerning salvation, tongues, and tithing will be a hindrance if you seek to be licensed with them. I was told you have to sign a statement that you will teach and practice tithing. Someone who is a minister here may have better information on that.

I used to be this arrogant and think the UPC was "the one" and only denomination that was right. Glad God took out that pride and showed me how wrong I was.

Personally, I think it is ironic that we believe in oneness but yet we ourselves are not one. the "standards" we enforce, we enforce because they are biblical doctrines. My advice is to go to the most loving UPC church you can find near you, and attend till the day you die. May God bless you and your family as you make this decision.

GuitarForJesus ..... seriously, UPC has it right? Then why do they keep changing it? And which group, in the group, is "the right ones?" I was in the UPC for several years and I was involved in many ways. It was an awakening experience going from church to church. At that time there were pastors who were as liberal, as far as standards, as you could find, and others who preached against everything that moved, (and if it didn't move they would kick it so it would move so they could preach against it!) And now there is more changing going on than ever before, in the UPC. I know what I am talking about, I have families that are members of the UPC.
Your perception is very narrow. Your statement, ...... (The United Pentecostal Church is who to look to, and they are the ones that shall be right in the end. Those "standards" shall mean everything in the end, mark my words.) ..... is very narrow.
I don't believe any particular organization, or group, will be "the one"! Instead, I believe that "The Church," called out individuals, who have believed in and have faith in Jesus Christ, (not an organization) will be the God called force in the end. And as far as all of the UPC standards being the doctrine, why is it so many of them cannot be backed up by scriptures but are determined by each and every pastor, some being applicable on the platform and some not, some being applicable in one church and then not in others.
I would urge you to open your eyes and see the big picture. Just one simple question that would cause your theory to be in question. Why does God give some, who are not a part of the UPC, the Holy Ghost, (and the UPC recognizes them as having the Holy Ghost) and then there are those who count them as not being in the body of Christ? Did God make a mistake or do we humans make the mistakes?
Again, my word to you guitar would be simple "open your eyes" and see the big picture.

There is a saying in a church I have preached in on the back wall "When Truth No Longer Means Everything It No Longer Means Anything"
I believe that. ALL my eggs are in one basket.
