A Completely Home Grown Meal

I thought some of you might appreciate seeing our completely home-grown/harvested meal. Every once in a while, we have one (not too often, really) that is 100% home grown/harvested with the exception of a few condiments etc. From the left clockwise:

1. Raspberries/Blackberries
2. New Potatoes
3. Green Beans/Wax Beans
4. Fried Green Tomatoes with Garlic and Cilantro (the garlic and coconut oil it was cooked in and flour are NOT homegrown)
5. Venison Back-Strap from 2011

We ended up eating the berries on ice cream so the ice cream also was not homegrown.

Re: A Completely Home Grown Meal

Wow, what an awesome meal!!! You have inspired me to see if I can accomplish the same soon... but probably minus the potatoes. I planted some potatoes kind of late, so I haven't even checked to see if they are ready yet or not. But, we have elk meat, green beans, peas, squash, and tomatoes ready now. My corn has also tasseled. Hoping to get an ear or too at least! My son has gone picking thimble berries, and blackberries up on the local mountain... would those count?

Thanks for the awesome inspiration - hope you enjoyed your homegrown meal

Re: A Completely Home Grown Meal

We tried making a 100% home grown and home raised meal once.

Unfortunately, this is the best we could do.

Re: A Completely Home Grown Meal

Last year, I wasn't able to make a garden, for the first time in a long time. This year I found if I limited myself to 1 hr. in the garden, at a time, I could do it.

So far we have had greens, beets, onions, green beans, fried grn tomatoes, ripe tomatoes, potatoes, peppers, squash and cucumbers,

Those pictures of dinners look delicious.
