Why do you respect those who believe such a fallacy that causes so much heartache?

Thad, if you do your homework you'd find that most of these 'cures' are pure snake oil! All anecdotal with no facts to back them up. While I agree that chemo and radiation can be harsh it is still helpful in far more cases than those it cannot help. Both my parents received several years of quality life because of it.

My son Raul Jr is almost 34 years old. I had to have him in the hospital and their were many complications but we both came out fine. One of those no doctor preachers told me back them, "Sister Alvear, you should have died in the faith..." I asked him would he have come to Brazil to take my place he said, NO...
So 34 years later I am still working for God... and have had 3 operations here in Brazil. I do not feel I sinned at all. Neither does going to a doctor make God smaller. He does happen to give common sense and as long as He permits I plan to do my best to take care of my health so that I can participate in Brazil's harvest of souls.
I do not think we have to become pill popers but God did give knowledge to them to help mankind.
I have NEVER seen anyone that did not go to a doctor of some kind..maybe a dentist...use false teeth...glasses, rub on muscle rub, take a halls for cough..or something...
Yes, I know they quote, cursed be the man that leaneth on the arm of flesh...but some of them sure like those food stamps and other government plans...
Balance my friends...balance...

We grew up fellowshipping with the Tripletts as well. He and my dad had many very heated discussions over the doctor thing.

I have known men who preached this and no doubt believed what they preached and if they could have died they would have but sometimes death is a long time coming and the pain is so severe in their weakened state they give in an go. I know 2 preachers that when they finally went one lived less than 36 hours and the other lived less than 48 hours if they had known that they would have never gone. But they lost their testimony. Sister Alvear and myself had a common friend who was a kind man but sincerely believed this and practiced it through many tragedies but he was so sick for over a year and could not lay down without drowning in his own fluids it finally it wore him out and he went just to die with hours. If any way he would have known he was going to die he would have never went. But he died against his testimony and no doubt felt like a failure at death.

This may not sound like me but sadly we have a bunch of functional biblical illiterates…trying to interrupt the word of God to their own gain. Power, prestige, titles, names, strange doctrines have grouped people off in their little circles or boxes as someone expressed on another thread.
With all my heart, soul mind and strength I believe Jesus is a miracle working God and in our ministry I even have witnessed the dead brought back to life, cancers healed and all kinds of notable miracles. Lepers have been healed through His great power and I know there is nothing that God cannot do in the line of healing but taking a pill does not belittle the strips that were put on His back as I have heard it preached.
The old saying is this, "God helps those that help themselves.." Getting up today and cooking for my family was not belittling God's miracle working power. He does have the power to sit my table and put a nice cooked meal on it but he seems to choose for me to get up and cook...
He has the power to put money in our bank accounts but He generally chooses for us to work and get paid!

One thing about the Trippletts they preached it and lived it and died it. Jim stuck it out broke his back and did not go and got healed. He had two daughters and a grandchild, wife that died and when his time came he died his testimony. So did Bro. & Sis. Roy Rowley they stuck with it until the end.

We used to fellowship Brother Jones in Gilmer Texas.
I remember hearing Trippletts & Brother Tingle mentioned back then at their meetings.
I am pretty sure that whole group didn't use doctors in any way.
