Now please forgive me in advanced, but I think the problem is that most of you people believe that personal experience validates the Bible. Therefore if you are bipolar and believe you have the Holy Ghost and still continue being bipolar, then the Bible needs to be modified for your personal experience? Because evidently the scripture has to be interpreted a different way because obviously Joe Foofoofnick has to have the Holy Ghost? How about Joe doesn't have the Holy Ghost, how about if his lack of soundness of mind is do to Joe not even being saved? Just saying.

Well, then all the mentally retarded folks are just outta luck right?
Alzheimer's disease and Huntington's....nope, not spirit filled folks!
Traumatic brain injuries and strokes? Can't have a sound mind with those either!

Obviously there are side effects to most (all?) of these drugs but EB has probably never been around a line of patients who STOPPED taking them. My wife has anywhere from one to several arrested a week (and often daily) in her store when they go on rampages.

I know people who are no longer on their psychotropics, from children, to adults. Children who have parents who weren't even Christians, but just going through the information that I steered them towards. They changed their child's diet, and have great results. Weaning people off of psychotropic is like getting someone off of any hard drug. You don't think crack (freebase) and heroin are strong drugs, yet I have seen men, and women get delivered from these drugs in the church and out of the church. It happens, and I think someone should give these people a high five. Unless you are getting a kickback from Pfizer.

Re: Mental Illness Revisited...
The brain is an organ which can fail us. Since our personality, consciousness, and central nervous system is stored there, when it's sick, it affects our mood, behaviors, memory, and even our physical body.
I have heard Holy Ghost filled people swear until my ears were on fire. I have seen them hit their loved ones. I have seen them cry about imaginary things. It's heartbreaking when someone's mind is the target of illness, but like any other organ that is sick, meds often can help along with prayer.

I thought Jesus said that a good tree cannot produce bad fruit?
Whatever.

I don't think that verse has anything to do with what I said. If it did, it would mean that Christians cannot have sickness in their bodies ever.
Do you understand that our emotions are sourced from chemicals?

Yes, I totally understand, but do you also know that the idea of a chemical imbalance needing medication to correct it is a myth? Please by all means please post the test which measures the perfect chemical balance that an adult must have, the chemical balance a young child must have.

SOMETIMES, when I don't get my morning coffee, I become chemically unbalanced.
At least, that's what I have been told.

That's called withdrawal.

See, the thing is, as long as I have my morning dose of the drug caffeine, I don't suffer from withdrawal and folks around me have a happy day.
