This is only about raising the debt-ceiling, which has to be done before 18-October.
Everyone knew, except for you apparently, that Boehner would not let the govt default. I dare say the majority of Republicans in the House would not want the govt to default.
Besides, if Congress didn't raise the debt-ceiling, then obumer would bypass them and be in violation of the Constitution. As was pointed out in another thread, Boehner has no desire to try and impeach obumer.
