Just so you understand, this has no bearing on the current govt "shutdown." None. Zilch. Zero. The shutdown is still in effect and will continue to be in effect for who knows how long.

This is only about raising the debt-ceiling, which has to be done before 18-October.

Everyone knew, except for you apparently, that Boehner would not let the govt default. I dare say the majority of Republicans in the House would not want the govt to default.

Besides, if Congress didn't raise the debt-ceiling, then obumer would bypass them and be in violation of the Constitution. As was pointed out in another thread, Boehner has no desire to try and impeach obumer.
