Yes, I read that scientific report and I realized, it as true.

I know that we don't use our mind. When you constantly keep your mind on God, the tongues are just there. You can let the tongues 'sink in' without vocalizing, you can whisper them to yourself or speak them out loud.

People haven't experienced this, I guess it is hard to believe.
like this

Now Hannah, she spake in her heart; only her lips moved, but her voice was not heard: therefore Eli thought she had been drunken.

Well kinda, with 2 differences.

She was thinking very hard of what she saying to God.

Her lips were moving. However, she could have just as easily been praying to God, what was in her heart, without her lips moving.

Re: Do you think...

It is people claiming that they have no control over the Spirit, is what has caused the wild hysterics in the services of the Pentecostal and Charismatic churches. The Holy Ghost is not hysterical.

I certainly believe in the Holy Ghost leading the service. I really hate to go to a church where the program is handed you, being already all planned out. How can the Holy Ghost lead in those services?

The Holy Ghost brings joy, conviction, weeping, tongues and interpretation, wisdom, knowledge, understanding, love, etc, when given free reign and not manipulated. It is usually the manipulation that brings the wildness.

And it takes balance.

The Corinthian church was losing control, therefore Paul's teaching in 1 Cor. 12 to 14 was to show them that they did have control over the Spirit, not just the prophets, but all of the gifts are to be used decently and in order.
And I really do understand. The people want the Spirit to be in control so bad, that they try to manipulate the Spirit. And if they have a shouting meeting, then to them it proves that the Holy Ghost is still among them. When the Spirit may have wanted to send weeping and conviction among them.

To try to push 'hot buttons' is to assume that you know the mind of the Spirit.

You don't control your tongue. When you speak in tongues, you're not in control of your tongue.

Saying you can "think in tongues" is absurd, to be blunt. There is no example in the Bible of someone "thinking in tongues." You can pray in your mind, but you cannot "think in tongues." People who claim to "think in tongues" should check themselves into a mental institution.

Renee apparently didn't understand what I posted, because she completely missed the point by going on and on about something else entirely.

Re: Do you think...

That's as crazy as folks claiming that the deaf and dumb can speak in tongues.

Absurd?
