Lafon.... I am amazed that you, one who professes to study the scriptures... would so easily misquote THIS scripture!
Sorry, my bad for not quoting Acts 2:38 "word-for-word" instead of publishing a personal paraphrased version (my mistake was including the quotation marks).

But pray tell me, did I omit any of the essential elements which Peter stated were required for salvation?

You didn't omit... you added.

Sadly, I have heard it quoted that way so many times that one can almost believe it is in the scriptures, but it is not.

Have you received the (baptism of the) Holy Ghost since you believed?

Do you believe that speaking in tongues as the Spirit gives the utterance is evidence that one has received the baptism of the Holy Ghost?

Maybe I should have put that portion of my statement in which I noted this matter in parenthesis instead, huh? Would that have been acceptable?

Really, this matter seems to be "part and parcel" of the argument wherein many refute "speaking in tongues" as the initial evidence ("sign" if you will) that one has received the baptism of the Holy Ghost. About all I wish to say toward that argument is that I KNOW what happened to me when I received this experience, and I KNOW that I spoke in another tongue (language), and if there be any that reject or refute such a thing, well, I will leave that between themselves and the Lord.

Re: Pentecostal Confusion??

Lafon, don't doubt you spoke in tongues, but was it done like the day of Pentecost where the onlookers heard you in there own language and was able to understand what you were saying as on the day of Pentecost?

Where did Peter state that tongues are required for salvation? A direct quote, if you will.

Re: Pentecostal Confusion??

People mistake having church is validation of their theology instead of realizing God's presence is present because of His grace and mercy.

Re: Pentecostal Confusion??

It's in the same passage that "oneness" is mentioned.

Regardless of what I believe, you misquoted a scripture that you should know well enough not to misquote, in order to insert your personal preference. That is a pretty serious error, in my opinion, to one who claims to study the scriptures.

Re: Pentecostal Confusion??

It's always people who have not experienced the Holy Ghost who want to argue about it...lol

Likewise, there is not one single (none, zilch, nadda) verse in the Bible to support the false teaching of the trinity.

I find this to be true most of the time.
