No problem - as soon as you dish out the same advice for others such as Roxanne, Sasha & Sis. Alvear. Clear?

The wee problem with that is that there are thousands of scriptures which use the masculine gender, but are applicable to both genders. Why pick and choose here? IMO, this argument has far less sticking power than the silence in the church passage.

And the "wee problem" with this post is that I specifically stated that the pronouns are "translated" as masculine pronouns - BECAUSE OF THE SURROUNDING CONTEXT. Did you catch it that time?

You said: "Your pastor does not allow women to teach-preach to men in his pulpit..."LOL"."

Referring to Sis. Alvear's pastor...right?

I think she claims Bryan Taylor as her Pastor....who is a good man BTW.

So your own consistency depends on other people? I think you're better than that.

*sigh* rdp, you and Pliny are complaining about insulting language, and yet you constantly speak condescendingly and rudely to others.

Yes, I understand that you are talking about context, but taken in context, the passage could apply to anyone in leadership--not just male elders/pastors.

Maybe she can address that when she comes back. I thought her husband pastored their church.

So it's 'do unto others as they do unto me'?

And I took you to be different than the average forum poster.

But I couldn't help noticing that you are comparing yourself to a bunch of women. LOL!

I grew up in Brother Bryan Taylor's church when he pastored in Arkansas and went to school at the Holmes...I speak in both places...
Of course my husband is the bishop over the work in Brazil...but Brother Taylor is our pastor and we also have Brother Holmes as one of our best friends...He and I went to school together..I grew up listening to his mother preach every week...She is in her 90's...and still a fireball for God....You folks ought to read her book sometime...

Technically, Bro. Alvear is your pastor, right? Is that how it is set up, or do you co-pastor?
