Re: Obama's Immigration Fix?
In answer to your question, Prax. I believe a large portion will go to the "Justice AmeriCorps" project that the Justice Department has formed. In short it will supply legal assistance to the illegals - 100 lawyers from 29 cities. And I say illegals, not immigrants. They are coming here illegally. We should never forget that salient point.
My concern is loyalty to the country you immigrate to. Time and again we see these people coming here who don't assimilate well into American society. I see it in my own local community. We had a local restaurant that used to fly a Mexican flag. Don't know what happened, but they took it down. And that's a good thing, because I have never eaten at the establishment because of their support of Mexico. If you love it so much, go back and fix your own broken country. Don't bring your heritage here and think I am going to be dancing with the Mariachis. I am an American.
There is nothing wrong with loving your heritage, but when you push it in another countries face as a taunt, that's when it becomes a problem. I see this quite a lot in South Texas.
A huge case in point would be the mother of the Mayor of San Antonio, Julian Castro. Maria "Rosie" Castro, a Chicana political activist, helped establish the Chicano political party La Raza Unida.
She is reportedly quoted, commenting on the Alamo, “I can truly say that I hate that place and everything it stands for.”
A little history for her. The conflict at the Alamo was not a racial issue. Not everyone involved in fighting against Santa Anna's tyrannical government were Americans. There were Tejanos involved, and even many Europeans.
I trust no one associated with La Raza.
