Apostolic Music
The last 10 years or so I was in the OP movement I was in, I noticed a disturbing trend in the music. I notice it is still there when I listen to some OP service music. It is usually this chanting type sound and so much repetition. To me, that was never conducive to worship. Anybody else feel this way?

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.
"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.
"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."

Re: Apostolic Music
A lot of the newer stuff I just don't care for and find hard to worship with.
A couple of Sunday nights ago we sang a couple of fairly new choruses and the a couple not so new. Then for the offering we played "Just a Closer Walk With Thee".
I started singing the old song and the entire crowd stood and started worshipping, Some where weeping and some started walking the isle with their hands raised and a 25 year old backslidden young man came to the altar and prayed back through

That's mostly from Jesus Culture and IHOP. I haven't heard anything like that in the UPC or other oneness churches I've visited or been a member.

One I already posted about is Rhythm of Heaven. Unfortunately, IHOP had it removed from YouTube, so the one I posted previously is no longer available. That was a mind numbing song which dragged on for over 12 minutes, during which Bickle claimed to give a prophetic word and Misty told about a dream in sing song. In between was the chant, "listen to the rhythm, the rhythm of heaven," over and over and over using varying beats.
A good read on it can be read HERE
