Re: Christian Life Center Stockton Question
I think when a church goes through any major change, whether it be in Pastoral leadership or in philosophy, the key is how it is handled.
With a lot of wisdom and patience a church can make these changes. However if leadership rushes things or does not have the heart of a shepherd in dealing with people then it is easy for many people to feel alienated and then leave.

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.
"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.
"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."

What many preachers seem to forget is that people vote with their feet.
When the preacher forgets this fact, then his church is in trouble.

Re: Christian Life Center Stockton Question
NLR runs over 2500 in each of the 3 services...even more on Sunday mornings. Additional seating was added in the Sanctuary last year to accommodate the steady growth. Sanctuary now seats 3500+ including balcony. Sanctaury looks FULL even on a Tuesday night midweek Bible Study.

Awesome. Bro Holmes has been an influence on many as far as prayer goes. Our church has been forever changed since my pastor has been attending Arkansas Campemeeting.

Re: Christian Life Center Stockton Question
The building will seat about 3500 but during Camp they put chairs everywhere which I am sure takes them over 5000 and they have a separate service for youth in their old auditorium which would probably be between 1500-2000? Parking is the problem during camp they want to build a parking garage but so far the zoning has not let them.

Re: Christian Life Center Stockton Question
Thank God for big and little churches....each soul saved is worth more than all the silver and gold of this world....just thankful for the body of Christ.

Sadly parking becomes the bottleneck way too often it seems when it comes to church plant expansion.
I can only imagine what a parking garage cost to build! I bet with the price of concrete it will be almost as expensive if not as expensive as building a new building. Of course when your current buildings are debt free you can do a lot more of this type building for the future.
