What a change!

And of course that is sarcasm! I have been away from the forum for a while and it seems everything is still the same. I guess what seemed the most odd to me was someone posted a sincere prayer request and got blasted for her grammer, punctuation etc. What a friendly self righteous all knowing bunch we have here!!!!

Re: What a change!

statefarm1,

It is pretty shocking that on any christian site someone would have a prayer request mocked as you mentioned. There is really no excuse and in fact one person apologized after the fact.

Sometimes it is hard for people to realize that there are people very much removed from the cultural, educational, etc background most of us have and how they think and communicate is shaped by their situation.

In this instance I wavered back and forth from believing the poster was sincere or someone playing a joke. I came to believe they were sincere.

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.

"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.

"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."

We have all kinds in here.
one person does not make the forum.
This is a Forum where Apostolics from different locations and backgrounds congregate and exchange ideas. We have members from all the Apostolic range, from the ultra liberal to the ultra conservative and even a few nonapostolics thrown in for good measure.

Yes, we do have many differing folks here, but,
it's still wrong to belittle or make fun of anybody's
prayer requests.

Re: What a change!

Because we've had some "trolls" in the past, it is hard sometimes to judge whether one is for real, or just trolling. Like CC1, I believe she is a real person with real needs, and for that reason I am praying for her. If she, by chance, is someone trolling, they need prayer as well, so I will just leave it in the Lord's hands.
