Remember, in ancient times betrothal was just as binding as the wedding. A man's betrothed was often called a "wife". Also, to terminate a betrothal a writ of divorcement was necessary. Scripture plainly says that Mary was Joseph's wife (
Matthew 1:20,24,
Luke 2:5). But at the same time, she was betrothed to him:
Matthew 1:18-19, "...Mary was betrothed to Joseph...Joseph...was minded to put her away."
So yes, although the marriage hasn't taken place yet, we are the bride of Christ.
