Elijah, a prophet, had the foresight from God to prepare the writing to send to Jehoram. Yet, you still cannot prove that Elijah was taken up in the whirlwind and dropped off on some mountain. No where in the text you offer does it say that Elijah was still living. So, come down to the thread in the eschatology section. I have some more questions for you.

I have not said he was dropped off on some mountain. That was what the sons of the prophets speculated. I always say he was probably needed somewhere else.
Nonetheless we can be as certain as certain is that he did not ascend into Heaven. That is if one takes Christ as their final authority.
