Lafon doesn't sound bitter to me. He is telling his side of an important encounter. And at times I think we need to be more sensitive to the judgment of God. No doubt some having not experienced his judgment hardly believe in it.
Paul here demanded for the Elders to take tithes of the saints....Right?...LOL
28 Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood. 29 For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock. 30 Also of your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples after them. 31 Therefore watch, and remember, that by the space of three years I ceased not to warn every one night and day with tears.
32 And now, brethren, I commend you to God, and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up, and to give you an inheritance among all them which are sanctified. 33 I have coveted no man’s silver, or gold, or apparel. 34 Yea, ye yourselves know, that these hands have ministered unto my necessities, and to them that were with me. 35 I have shewed you all things, how that so labouring ye ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive.(this passage quoting Jesus is for the Elders to give to the saints)

THIS!
Paul said these things. It is APOSTOLIC DOCTRINE.
Having said that don't forget to give out of a heart of love for God and his work.
And don't say that anything you own is EXCLUSIVLEY YOURS. Rather have all things common.
I have witnessed the Elders sucking the saint dry financially for 35 years now...whats wrong with this picture?
What's wrong with this picture?
It looks like you didn't get any of the money?

And the fact that DECADES later we would be discussing tithing in a thread about Deep Apostolic Teaching reveals the shallowness of the present day movement.
government tax..... 24%
alimony & child support... 50%
tithes......... 10%
offerings...... 5%
soooooo after all the deductions, the typical new convert has 10% of his earnings to live on...to pay rent, gas & electric, water, car payment, auto insurance, health insurance, gas, food....now all of you on the top receiving 10% of everyone's income for life...figure it out...why is it so hard for people to be saved????? One reason is because you have put a price on being saved. SHAME on you!!!
By the way, Epley say's you will go to HELL if you don't pay. What do we love more, money or souls????? You have to be honest and ask yourselves this question. When the message we are preaching is more about money, than loving people & winning a soul for God. We must ask ourselves if our priorities are in the right place.
I want to clarify that I do believe in giving. But...some examples of people I personally know...a lady in her 60's, no formal education, working full time at a preschool, raising 3 grandchildren, no money to buy their school clothes or supplies, has to put the "needs" on charge cards....also another precious saint of God is helping raise a couple of her grandchildren, falls on hard times, ends up living in her car for a month..nobody even knew of this until she got up in front of the church & testified how God had made provision for her to get a place to live...these are just a few "real life" situations that I personally know of...it bothers me for them, that some of these pastors are so far removed from "real life" that they hardly know it exist...it reminds me a little of politics...how the rich law makers are making the laws...and us "common" folk are having to pay their "big salaries" for making the laws, that we don't agree with in the first place..I guess I am just fed up with non caring people on the top...that sometimes, it seems the main thing they think about is "money" and not the saints that they are supposed to be a shepherd to...The condemnation that these precious saints feel weekly at offering time is enormous. The pastor is in a 3,000 sq. ft home(BTW)
Are these folks I mentioned "exempt" from having to pay their tithes?
Will they go to hell as Epley says, if they cannot afford it?
