Please pray for my 4th grade daughter

She is a straight A student at a Christian school.

She has been the favorite student of every teacher she has had thus far. She is beautiful to boot. But we are noticing a flaw in her that concerns us, the need to make people like her. Her teachers have also noticed this.

Today this tendency finally brought forth some bad fruit. Her class was taking a history exam that was quite difficult IMO for 4th graders. She had spent hours preparing for the test. Sadly, a friend of hers begged her for some of the answers while the teacher was distracted. Equally sad, my daughter complied. The other girl felt guilty and confessed to the teacher. When I picked up my daughter from school today her teacher came over to our car and confronted my daughter (gently and firmly) in front of me. My daughter confessed her guilt. The school is determining what corrective measure to meet out to both girls.

I live in Realville and as a parent I know our kids will sin. And while I must correct her, I see this as such a teachable moment to help her understand the gospel in a deeper way. Not just God's forgiveness, but the condition of our sinful hearts and how being a man pleaser will take us to destruction.

Please pray that God will grant us wisdom as parents.

The fact that you brought this up says something about your parenting skills, I'm sure you will teach her what is right and my prayers will be with you and your family.

I am thinking that this one episode will most likely
help her from repeating it again. I will be in prayer for y'all.

Most of the lessons in life that we learn best are because of our bad decisions that cause us to realize our mistake. I think this is truly a teachable moment, and that you are handling it wisely as a parent, and using this as an opportunity to be a lesson learned. Blessings to you and your family

Sounds like a good opportunity for a life lesson. Friendship and peer pressure are powerful things. Sounds like you are doing a great job parenting and will handle this just fine.

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.

"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.

"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."

Re: Please pray for my 4th grade daughter

I have banished her to the dilithium mines of Rura Penthe.

Just kidding.

Thanks to all of you for your prayers and wisdom.

Re: Please pray for my 4th grade daughter

She is so very young and will make many more mistakes throughout her life. My three children are now teens and I would love to go back to the simpler days. During my prayer time this week I was in deep conservation with God. I was thankful because we serve a mighty God and I made it known to Him that I do not want to serve any other god. I felt a quiet silence and then I heard these words, "But your children do." My heart sank and I felt very grieved because even though we don't worship before a statue or an idol, I knew that God was talking about the god of entertainment. I began to search their laptops and could not bear the sorrow I felt in my heart. This dark world is at work trying to pull our children away from God. I have had to set limits and deleted everything I found on their computer that was ungodly. I am sad but thankful to God for correcting me. If we are not in love with God then we will not desire holiness. If we think conforming to sin in our lives is okay then more than likely there are other areas of weakness that we need to work on.
