Fed Ex delivered my UPCI generated KJV Apostolic Study Bible yesterday, and after several hours of examining many of its addendums, notes, etc., I must confess that I am sorely grieved.
About 25 years ago I purchased a leather bound Thompson Chain Reference Bible, and after a short while I gave it away. The abundance of its addendums, notes, etc., which I found were NOT in strict accord with the truth of God's written Word caused me to reject it as worthy of its possession. I was almost persuaded to purchase a Scofield Reference Bible, but upon perusing its pages at a local bookstore I quickly rejected it as well for the same reason.
While neither the Thompson Chain Reference or Scofield Bibles caused me much grief, for I was well aware that its "additions" were NOT the "works" of men whom I believed to be "true" men of God, such is not the case with the UPCI KJV Apostolic Study Bible. All of its addendums, notes, etc. are the "works" of men whom I believe to possess the same Spirit of Truth as I, and to discover the numerous errors that I've encountered during such a brief examination of its contents, gives me great cause for concern.
John was inspired of God to write and warn:
"that NO lie is of the truth" (
I John 2:21). The UPCI KJV Apostolic Study Bible not only contains numerous "lies" (I'm only being candid), but sorely fails to even address many of those passages that many of my Apostolic brethren struggle with their understanding, for instance, the sayings of Peter and Paul (as well as others) that "are hard to be understood."
Therefore my assessment of it is that of a thoroughly "corrupt" text. I would NOT recommend that any purchase it, unless, of course, you desire to discover for yourself whether my assessment of its contents are meritorious or not.
