It doesn't.
It does. You just choose to ignore it.

Hogwash. Silence isn't consent.

Paul clearly wrote that our warfare isn't carnal, neither are our weapons. ie: a Christian's war is not of the flesh, it's a spiritual warfare.
The problem with this logic is that homosexuality is a sin and is clearly described as sin, even in the New Testament.

The first Gentile that God chose to fill with His Spirit was a military man.

To teach that a Christian must leave the military service to remain a Christian is to add to the Bible.

Get over it.
John 3:8 does not teach Oneness Pentecostal doctrine. You have to add to the Bible to get the understanding you are espousing.

Paul is talking about how that we should not use force to convert people to Christianity.

This is not a prohibition on military service.

There is no significance to his being a military man. The only significance to that passage is 1) He was a Gentile; 2) He was considered a devout man, yet had not received the Holy Ghost or been baptized; 3) The Holy Ghost was poured out also on Gentiles, evidenced by those who heard them speak with tongues and magnify God.

His being a Centurion of the Italian Band is not significant to the story.

No adding, just reading...

"The Spirit breathes wherever it wants. You hear its voice, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going, so it is with everyone born of the Spirit."

You hear the voice of the Holy Ghost in everyone who is born of the Holy Ghost.

JD, sorry you were only told what to believe and seemingly never taught.

What you say is insignificant is germane to this discussion. Our Father, in His Divine Wisdom, made sure that fact was included in the Holy Bible so that 2,000 years later you could add to the Bible a prohibition on Gentiles, who are saved by Grace, must never serve in their country's armed forces.

This is what it comes down to-- your desire to read your personal, unbiblical conviction into the Holy Bible.

Re: Should women be in the military

Some of the opinions expressed on this thread really do seem to flow from the hearts of Christians who believe in a works-based and unbiblical salvation.

I love you all still.
