Sick puppies.
Yea in some circles vile and cuss words are nothing. They think we are legalistic Pharisees if we mention it.

Re: F word used by my daughter's teacher!

My kids 7th grade teacher last year used language that most would consider "cussing" routinely throughout the day, including the f-word at least once. Yes it is a "christian school".

No her contract was not renewed. It was a difficult year.

And yet Christians have no problem it seems in my experience to use words like "shoot, or friggin, or darn, which many laugh and say that is Pentecostal cursing.
The fact is there is not one passage of scripture that condemns slang, we have twisted the meaning of "swear" to mean slang when that is not the meaning.
The bottom line in scripture is if it is offensive, or will cause a brother or sister to have their faith fail we are to refrain from it when it would cause them to fall. We are to always be aware of our weaker brother or sister as per Romans 14.

But, I would hope that as a 2nd grade teacher at a Christian school, I would not want to cast a bad shadow over myself by posting such unchristian remarks on a very public venue. Evidently doesn't matter to her one way or the other.

I very much agree with you that those are types of curse words also.
May as well say the word from which it's watered down.
If it casts a bad light on my example as I walk with God, it's wrong for me.
Another thing that grates on me is the use of OMG....that has always bothered me. Unless you're praying and exalting Him of course!

Lot's of things not written, but just common sense.

I completely agree. I was just correcting the misunderstanding that it was used in front of the 2nd graders.

Re: F word used by my daughter's teacher!

If the teacher wants to post profane things on her FB account then she needs to not accept as FB friends students or students parents. For that reason I don't think I would have told her I would not bring it to the attention of the school administration. They should be telling her that also.

You would think she would have more common sense that that but apparently not.

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.

"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.

"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."

Re: F word used by my daughter's teacher!

The bible speaks about profane and corrupt communication coming from our mouths. A clean spirit is repulsed from such vile words.

Re: F word used by my daughter's teacher!

So...who is it that gets to determine which words are profane, vile and corrupt? Who gets to just define words as "curse" or dirty words?

Not that I find it terribly classy, but how does one manage to twist scripture to make the sh** word sinful, but not the word poop? Or who gets to determine why the F word, in all its various meanings, is sinful to say?

Is it perhaps accurate to say that they aren't sinful at all and it is merely our own cultural uptightness that grants such stigma to "curse" words?

Again, I don't like the language, I don't use it and I wouldn't let my kids, but to say they are sinful and try to connect them to Paul's words about corrupt communication and profane speech is a stretch in my opinion.

I tend to think Paul was speaking about truly vile things such as conversing about things that are sinful, vile and corrupt. Discussing things that ought not be spoken of such as sin, intimate issues, perverse thoughts, etc. I may be wrong, but I think it is more about content and not words.
