The U.S. economy faces a demographic challenge to its future economic growth. Among the native-born population, fertility rates are falling, workers are growing older and better educated, and labor force participation rates are flattening. However, the economy continues to create a large number of less-skilled jobs that favor younger and less-educated workers. These divergent trends present an obstacle to continued labor force growth, which is an essential component of economic growth in general. Barring unlikely increases in productivity growth rates, expansion of the workforce is crucial to sustained growth in the labor-intensive industries that generate the greatest number of less-skilled jobs.
Immigration fills this gap between native labor supply and domestic labor demand, especially in less-skilled occupations for which relatively few native-born workers are available. Immigrants are more likely than the native-born to be younger, to have only a high-school education or less, and to participate in the labor force.
As a result, they comprise a disproportionate share of workers in less-skilled jobs and, according to federal employment and workforce projections, will continue to do so over the coming decade. Thus immigration has become an engine of labor force growth and, hence, economic growth in many industries and the U.S. economy as a whole.
Despite the critical role played by foreign-born workers in many less-skilled job categories, the current immigration system offers very few visas that are designed or available for these workers. Nearly all of the visa “preference” categories that do exist for workers in less-skilled jobs are subject to numerical caps that fall far short of meeting the labor demands of the U.S. economy. The result is that a large number of prospective employment-based immigrants are crowded into a small number of highly limited visa categories, or are forced to pursue immigration opportunities through an already overburdened family-based system.
Who said anything about everyone else? I am just addressing what you said AS you said it. Come on, stop getting emotional people and just have a discussion. The more we try to rachet up the emotions here the more out of hand this discussion will become.
I made a simple statement and you turned it into a blanket one. That's not an honest way to have a discussion, is it?
YOU are the one who said something about 'everyone'. Not me.

I agree. but what about those already here illegally?
We need to know who they are. I think that the idea of deportation for all of them is too burdensome to our system. Prosecution would even be worse. But, I reject the idea that they should be at the head or middle of the line for citizenship. They should be at the back of the line. Legal status makes sense, with certain protocols. My concern is whether those protocols are so much waste of paper and ink--or if they will be TRULY followed.

Please explain what I posted that made you say this to me
I don't get that...what did I say that made you ask me that? I did not post a thing that even addressed the topic that illegals are getting paid full wages. As I stated they are NOT getting paid full wages and that is why they are being hired instead of Americans
The percentage of Americans do that is low NOR does that show that Americans would refuse to work a construction job or a cleaning job if not paid "illegal slave wages"
Again, that does not prove that Americans would NOT take those jobs if offered more than illegal slave waves. Americans have also been known to rape, kill and steal, but that does not mean they all do it
Where's the 'slapping my forehead' smiley?
I didn't say anything about Americans not taking jobs that illegals do, so why do you keep talking to me about it?

Well then why even mention the handful of people who might drink and not wake up for work or the small handful of americans that pan handle? How does that address what I have been saying that it's not true Americans don't want any of these jobs?

I was talking about my brother's experience, not making it to be everyone else's!

Then why are you asking others for facts if you aren't supplying them yourself with your claims?
You confuse me!
Let me recap...you asked me

As though I said somewhere that illegals were getting paid FULL wages. Now then I asked you where I said they were getting full wages and you replied where did you ever say I said that and now I am twice providing the quote. YOu said the above and I am asking again what in my post, where you qouted me, had me saying Illegals get paid full benefits? You confuse me. I did not say one thing about them getting paid full benefits, yet you asked me this
