People Looking To Take Offense Will Find It

People looking to take offense will find it. Even when it is not there. My mind was blown when I found out yesterday that a person in our church had a traditional Pentecostal visit last week and what that person said about their visit.

Now our church is in no way shape or form a traditional Pentecostal church and I would not expect many if any traditional OP's to approve. We baptize in Jesus name and believe in the gifts of the Spirit but a lot of everything else is different.

However when the member of our church asked their Pentecostal guests what they thought of the service the next day they said that they were greatly disturbed by the "pyramids" painted on murals at the front of the church behind the platform and the thought that this meant we were a new age church. In fact they were disturbed so much they could not sleep.

The only problem is that the "pyramids" are in fact mountains painted in a modern art kind of way by a artist in the church. I am putting a picture I took yesterday at our 5 pm Saturday service for you to see.

I am still amazed at this...how do I say it politely? Oh, I guess there is just no way so I will go ahead and say STUPIDITY.

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.

"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.

"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."

Those 'mountains' do in fact look like a new agey pyramid collection.

I did not see the Eye of Horus in any of them, however, so I will give you the benefit of the doubt here.

Your eyesight is just fine. During the praise and worship portion of the service the sanctuary lights are dimmed then brought back up during the sermon.

So what are you going to do about the situation? Just curious.

I would think they were pyramids if I visited the church but ...

Doesn't mean I would be offended but according to your picture they look like pyramids.

Some people are very sensitive to that stuff. Especially those who came out of the new age religions. I could see where they would be ..... cautious.

Some people are witch hunters. You'll find these sorts of people read a lot of information about paganism and cults, and are simply and unhealthily too much on the lookout for that sort of thing.

I knew a couple like that. They would more quickly point out the witchcraft in rock music to sinners before they would relate the gospel.

Re: People Looking To Take Offense Will Find It

When I was growing up in a small rural church there was a names of God poster in the back. One service a visiting evangelist ripped it off the wall because he saw a demonic face in it.

BTW Looks like pyramids to me too. Are you part of the illuminati?

Re: People Looking To Take Offense Will Find It

I was highly impacted by the occult as a very young man. I usually know a witch when I am around one. A couple times I have been i a public place and simply asked someone at random " are you by any chance a witch?" I have never been wrong. One day a witch came into where I work and I knew pretty well right off that she was. I told my co-worker "that lady is a witch". When she came back in to the office she had to take a handful of cards out of her purse to get to her ID. When she laid some sort of Wiccan ordination card on my co workers desk while she was rummaging through her purse my co-worker about flipped! Said that to say this....I'm not on a witch hunt but I do typically know one when I see them. Usually treat them just as I would anyone else...but have had a couple times where there was major reaction in their part because of a clash of spirits.

You have good insight. But that's a far cry from someone saying stylized mountains in a painting are pyramids.
