Our super-inflated egos sometimes won't let us see what He's been telling us from the beginning.
As far as cops and military I cannot answer for them but that is a choice they make not something commanded by God. Like the choice to live your life for God. Before I gave my heart to God I did a lot of things that were not Godly. After I had to put those things away. Are they given that same oppurtunity if they decide using the entire Word that some things are a contradiction in their life? Obviously. It's not about you or me, but for sake of argument here if you are right I will stand before Him without the shedding of blood on my hands/heart. But if you are wrong.......

Brother, I have guns that I use for fun shooting.

I do not own a barrel under 6", because I want to be able to hit targets or use a hunting side arm.

I dont ever expect to use it on a human being, but if needed, it will work the same way.

If I bought a snub nose, or purchased guns for man stopping reasons, then I might think I am expecting trouble.

That is how I buy guns, but I dont hassle saints that buy them for man stopping reasons.

Re: Guns and the Bible

Just a thought to pacifists....

Should the cops have not used lethal force on the 2 terrorists that killed 14 and injured over 20 in San Bernadino?

Should we, as a Christian society, should have just let them go free and forgive them?

Maybe try to get them baptized?

Should the Romans have protected Paul from the Jews with an armed guard, as they did, or should Paul had refrained from appealing to Caesar and refuse protection, trusting God?

Maybe Paul lacked faith?

22 So the chief captain then let the young man depart, and charged him, See thou tell no man that thou hast shewed these things to me.

23 And he called unto him two centurions, saying, Make ready two hundred soldiers to go to Caesarea, and horsemen threescore and ten, and spearmen two hundred, at the third hour of the night;

24 And provide them beasts, that they may set Paul on, and bring him safe unto Felix the governor.

Re: Guns and the Bible

Did Paul call on the centurions? Then how is his faith in question? And where was his sword when taken captive?

Re: Guns and the Bible

Could someone explain the method of interpretation being used? So far I have the following:

1. If it's old testament it doesn't apply and can't be used.

2. If it's new testament but only occurs in one setting it doesn't apply.

3. If it's new testament but happened before Pentecost it doesn't apply.

Did I miss anything?

Re: Guns and the Bible

1. I used the OT in nearly every post.

2. Yes it occurred in one setting, and we are clearly taught in that one setting what happens. Hence why there wasn't more than one occurrence?

3. Question 2 covers this also.

I feel like we are running in circles. It is a deep subject that touches many people. I don't have all the answers or time to post. My apologies if I have offended anyone.
