Don't avoid the obvious conclusions by "shaking your head." Those are legitimate questions, and you know it.
Slavery would be sanctioned today per Ephesians 6:5 "Slaves, obey your human masters with fear and trembling; and do it with a sincere heart, as though you were serving Christ" unless YOU decide to interpret that scripture differently.
