But isn't it much funner to extrapolate it out to cover jumping up and down, spinning around, and doing the helicopter and other wild things?

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.

"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.

"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."

You don't do those things in the church you attend now?

Re: Drunk in the Spirit

I wonder, how was it that Sister So-N-So was able to twirl around with eyes closed shut speaking in tongues around the circumference of the sanctuary? She never hit a pew, never fell, tripped, how? How about a Brother So-N-So, running the across the backs of pews in slick cowboy boots, with eyes closed and hands held high in the air? Never fell, tripped, crashed, no epic fail. I must say, the services are awesome, you feel great, visitors repented, prayed through, received the Holy Ghost speaking in tongues. Everyone living good lives, and no harm?

Hypotheticals don't prove anything. If this scenario ever occurred, how does God get any glory from it? You seriously believe that the Holy Spirit makes people do these crazy things?

No hypotheticals, these are true.

OK, a woman and man praising God to such an extent they feel an elation of love beyond that of a fan at a football game. Doesn't glorify God?

But telling people that their wives and daughters could be raped before their eyes, and advocating a lunatic who wants to legalize torture, glorifies God?

DB, put me on ignore.

Amen. my aunt would dance in the Spirit with her eyes closed and skip accord the edge of a high platform and never fall off. it was God. she would also dance as fast as she could around a red hot pot belly stove and her eyes were closed never touching it. I don't think that's what Acts 2 meant by drunk, but it was still of God.

Re: Drunk in the Spirit

And as the Rapture and the coming of the Lord gets closer the Church must learn to pray more and more.

Jesus is coming soon!

We need more Church!
