Hmm. Could old testament prophets choose not to speak the Word of the Lord that came to them by the Spirit? I think Jeremiah tried that once...

Good point!

Re: Drunk in the Spirit

I think sometimes peoples' worship may seem explosive because they are trying to suppress what God is doing in them. Instead of surrendering people try and refrain because of fear and embarrassment. When finally there is and instant release and they can't hold back any longer and they go wild. (Just an opinion)

I would rather see someone crazy worshiping God than not worshiping at all.

One group which was devout heard the apostles speaking their languages Acts 2:5, the others Acts 2:13 mocked the Apostles because all they could hear was babbling. The Apostle Paul told his students to not be drunk with wine but be filled with the Holy Ghost Ephesians 5:18. I don't know, but maybe DB probably never had the Holy Ghost experience? Sounds like he's dryer than an old rusty Brillo pad, and doesn't like people filled with the Holy Ghost. I think his church is called "First Church of Moldy Crust?"

EXACTLY. And this is something most Pentecostals have missed, it seems. There was not a caucaphony of disciples all speaking various "known languages" (xenolalia), rather EACH visitor is said to have heard THEM (the disciples, plural) speaking HIS OWN (the hearer's) language.

And then there were some, mocking, saying these Galileans were drunk.

Not much has changed, really.

Off topic somewhat, but my pioneer preacher grandfather encountered two cases where people were speaking in false tongues.
Which he believed was under the influence of Satan.
