Of coarse I don't believe we are saved by our repentance (salvation by our own works). Repentance is a result of a person's faith in in Christ Jesus. If I really believe that someone died for something that I did wrong then that sorrow would lead me to repentance. The thing about repentance is that no one knows if anyone else truly repents without simply relying on the outward fruits following.

If God forgave this man simply for repentance, then only God can know if he was truly repentant. I hope God did, but to teach such a doctrine is heresy. By teaching such doctrines you are giving people a false hope that they can get things right with God later.

The parable of the laborers that came in late in the day had nothing to do forming a doctrine for death bed repentance. Jesus gave this parable in regards to Peter mentioning all that he had sacrificed to follow Jesus. Jesus spoke this parable in regards to whether little or much was sacrificed then eternal life would be the reward. Many gave up houses and lands and others did not, but they would all receive eternal life that put their faith in Jesus Christ which includes obedience.

Only God can judge, but we better stick to the word.

Many years ago they came to Brazil to visit churches and I was chosen to translate for them...got to spend prime time with them for a week...it was one of the most awesome experiences of my life....they were quite amazing...

Deathbed repentance... any references to such a thing in scripture and someone being saved by doing this, after the cross? I know the thief did such a thing but that was before Christ died.

There is no however. If one does not change (repentance) and one is not buried in Jesus Name ( baptism) and receive the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in tongues they are lost as Two boys kissing

I never said there was a however meaning that someone can be saved another way...if it sounded like that forgive me...I did say I am a firm believer it takes Acts 2:38....I have spent almost 50 years on the mission field and wrote many Bible studies on the plan of salvation....HOWEVER...I am not God....I will do my best to do what I understand the scriptures to teach but I will not be mean spirited about it. I am a 3 stepper if anyone would like to know....I do think most know what I live and teach....

Even though I am an "ole timer" I never want to portray that I think I am better than anyone for I am not...Please never take anything I might say and think I would think I am better...I want to be remembered for kindness and love even when my opinion differs....

All the good works in the world amount to nothing if one is lying to those who are recipients of those good works. No your not God and neither am I but the word of God is forever settled in Heaven. God can not change the word. If that's mean spirited I guess you could say I am mean spirited.
